Pines On The Prairie Bed and Breakfast is very much a joint effort for LeAnn and Donovan. They both enjoy staying in bed and breakfasts and as a result they know what guests are looking for in a country inn….peace and quiet, plus a ‘pinch of adventure! LeAnn makes sure all the ‘little touches’ are attended to, making your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Donovan keeps the grounds maintained and inviting.

You never know who will be preparing their tasty Iowa Country Breakfast. Down through the years, LeAnn has always promoted healthy, natural foods for her family and now extends that tradition to their guests. Baking tasty muffins or preparing her ‘famous’ quiche is a delight for LeAnn. Donovan’s background in institutional foods has helped to make sure that the in-room breakfasts are beautifully garnished, on time and ‘hot things hot’ and ‘cold thing cold’. Donovan also enjoys making his favorite ‘Mouth Watering Pancakes’.

LeAnn is currently pursuing an Occupational Therapy degree at St. Ambrose College in Davenport, IA. “Helping people to succeed and be the best they can be is something I find very rewarding”, comments LeAnn. After raising and home schooling six children, LeAnn is ready to follow her dreams and continue helping others to grow. It isn’t uncommon to hear LeAnn playing her baby grand in the parlor…she has been a piano teacher for over 30 years. Many guests have brought their musical instruments and enjoyed a fun time of making music!

Donovan owned and operated Express! Auto Glass and Express! Auto Wash and Detail in Muscatine, Iowa for 25 years. Now, he is a partner in Express! Solutions, a car wash chemical manufacturing and distributing business. Additionally, he operates an auto glass tool manufacturing and distribution company, AutoglasSolutions which is located in a 75 year old converted chicken house right on the property! Ask for a ‘tour’ of the facility. Donovan works out of his home office and is always ready to do little extras for guests, whether it’s scraping the ice off guest’s windshield on a frosty morning or ‘firing up’ the campfire for s’mores! Donovan comments, “I love the Iowa prairie… and love even more helping others to understand how to see the beauty in its flowers, grasses, animals, insects…not to mention its magnificent ‘big sky’.” All the photos on this web site where taken by Donovan, who never misses a ‘photo op’.

Becky Schmertman has a massage therapy practice in Muscatine.  Becky comes right to the Inn and gives therapeutic and relaxing massages. Choose a 30 minute massage for just $30 or a 1 hour, full body massage for $60.  Becky is also our ‘Inn Sitter’ when we are away!

The highlight of everyone’s stay is Gramma Violet’s chocolate chip cookies! Donovan’s mother Violet lives in her tiny home on the acreage and lovingly prepares these wonderful cookies for guests. Enjoy a plateful!
